That's probably the right word. My 69 AT is also noisy at idle, and I've rebuilt the engine and that made no difference. The AT front mount is a possibility, but there are also a number of rubber collars that mount the rear subframe which might be at fault. In my case, I believe the car spent too many years in the sun and the rubber is all hard, and just transmits vibration too well. I understand that these front mounts are hard to find today. Nevertheless, you should make sure you have enough ATF (Dexron/Mercon), and check the.differential, too (GL-5.) -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
