I find it's easy to avoid things sometimes knowing how
big the hill to climb is. I'm a procrastinator by
nature, so I'll assemble all the stuff I need to do a
job, and then just think and think and think about it,
like I'm planning too much when I should get my hands
dirty. Sounds like you don't have exactly that problem
since you're working on a bus, but was it easier to
work on the bus? Maybe you want the notch to be
perfect whereas you're not quite so concerned with
making the bus perfect? I dunno...

I do find that as soon as I actually start working on
my Square, I feel better and don't know why I avoided
it at all, or put it off.

Not really encouragement I guess, but here: You might
want to go up to the notch, run your hand along its
rare metal wings, feel the fine german metal adn the
potential for what this fine auto can be again and
promise it you'll at least begin step one on it very
soon. Bus be damned. :)
