[T3] running rough

As I mentioned in a couple of previous posts last week,
I rebuilt and installed my 71 squareback engine.

I still have the flickering oil light problem at low rpm,
but based on recent posts (thanks for these responses), I am not so worried about that and
right now am focusing on getting it to run decently

its idling ok now, but drives quite rough with a lot of what
I perceive as "hesitation". The feeling is a little
like you would get from a chattery clutch, but not nearly so
extreme, I feel a kind of a "jerky" motion, going on constantly
while driving along. It seems to feel a bit better during acceleration.
The power seems normal to me. The car also occasionally backfires
loudly.

I realize this is vague, but don't know how else to describe it.
The car is FI. It didnt run this way before I removed the engine,
which was about 1 1/2 years ago. I changed the gas in the tank.
The harness is in pretty marginal shape. The plastic part of the connector
to injector 3 is missing and I have just connected the female metal
parts to the male injector prongs. But It has always been that way, and ran fine before.

I don't think its running rich, as it isnt emitting smoke.
One other known problem is that I used the type 1 metal gaskets on the intake
manifold-head connection. It is running on all cylinders as determined by listening
to variations in idle speed while removing the spark plug wires. The problem
reminded me a little of what it ran like with the pressure sensor hose disconnected,
but I've checked this and it seems fine, also, it isnt smoking like you'd expect.

I have the bentley FI troubleshooting list, but can't seem to narrow down
the problem...any insights?
Thanks
