Re: [T3] Hills and heat

DB=> anybody give me an idea of how it
=> is supposed to feel going up a hill?

I don't have an automatic to provide a comparison, but I have a couple of
thoughts. It should accelerate better than a comparable Fastback or Square,
for starters, so you might look into that sort of comparison. Second, I felt
much the same about mine until I had the carbs tuned by a guy who *really
knows*. You may just be looking at some fine-tuning yet.

=> how would I know if it is overheating?

You'll probably smell stuff burning off the exhaust for a while, you're in
the right place there, and the heat soak you've noticed is also normal.
Standing over the hot engine on a warm day can be deceptive as well, because
these motors blow off a lot of heat. I usually can't tell I'm nearing
overheat until I feel it in performance. It starts to get sluggish and
struggle a bit. You might see oil vapor blowing out the fill pipe with the
engine off. Lacking a head-temp guage, which I'd recommend, you could use one
of those laser thermometers to check the temp of the oil sump: over 240F or
so at the side of the sump and you're starting to get in trouble.
