I've used Valvoline for ~30 years and have never had a reason to be dissatisfied with it. Most of that time I've had full flow filtration, however, and I keep my cars well maintained. Frankly, I suspect that maintenance is much more important than brand. I've known people who just felt that their old cars weren't worth the trouble to change the oil, and that the "thicker" oil would just help fill the wider running clearances in a worn engine. I don't believe this a bit, but it becomes self-fullfilling prophecy, since engines treated this way die sooner, thus meeting their owner's expectations. My memory of the CU tests was that they had a very hard time telling any difference between any of the name brands and the recycled stuff they could buy from Sears in gallon cans. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
