Don't know if this is your issue or not... I was pretty confused about this as until I took the mechanism off to look at it. If it's installed correctly, it looks as though it would NEVER touch the kickdown switch. Almost like the flange that makes contact with the switch would never reach. If you notice though, you can push a LOT harder on it and there's another spring that kicks in that allows the flange (with a lot more effort) to make contact with the switch and click it over. Looking at mine, and moving the throttle from the engine compartment, it looked like it must've been installed improperly, but it was actually correct. If you have it set so that it throttles pretty smoothly and then just at the end of travel hits the switch, that's wrong...
