According to Bentley, "the kick down switch should be adjusted if the tab on the throttle valve shaft is contacting it either too soon or not at all. Loosen the switch securing screws. Open the throttle valve until there is a clearance of 0.50 to 1.00 mm (.020 to .040 in.) between the throttle stop and the throttle valve lever. Position the switch so that it operates with the throttle valve lever in this position, then tighten the switch securing screws. Kickdown should be possible between 35 and 55mph and to 1st gear below 35 mph." Hope this helps.
