I've witnessed a wheel coming off a pickup truck on the highway. Luckily, nobody was hurt or property damaged. I pulled over to provide assistance to the guy (he had a phone so didn't need it) and he told me that he just had new tires put on his rims a couple of days ago. I asked if he had the lugs retorqued after 50 or so miles and he just gave me a blank look. I explained that the lugs need to be retorqued after 50 to 100 miles if the rim has been removed from the car (just need to retorque once). Don't forget this step, even with our cars.
