Re: [T3] cutoff valve

Brad=> I also see a bit of fuel leaking intermittently
=> from around the shafts for the butterfly valves.

This is indeed a leak, but the more important component is the air leaking
*in*.

=> Is the bushing rework simply a matter of reaming
=> out the old and pressing in new?

Essentially yes.

=> Are the new bushings part of a rebuild kit?

No.

=> Where might I obtain these rebuild kits?

Ask around at your various FLAPS, you (and they) may be surprised at what
they can find in their books. Finding the actual Type 3 (32PDSIT) kit is a
little more difficult, but most of the parts in the Type 4 Bus kit (34PDSIT)
are the same or adaptable.

=> The local shop here is not as expert at
=> type 3s as they are about the beetles.

Every member of this list should print out this quote in large letters and
stick it to the fridge.

=> cutoff valve ... If I need one, where can I get one?

They're still in the Rocky Mountain Motorworks catalog. You can also replace
the electric ones with passive pilot jets, also available through RMM last I
knew.
