I've taken apart and put back together _many_ VW and Porsche axle assemblies of various styles before. Well, except for maybe the early 911 U-joint'ed axles... My point was this: what "standard" do you use to measure them? If the CV is in "rest" position (i.e. in the middle of travel, not binding anywhere), then the axle itself is the longest part, and therefore the "assembled" length is the same as the bare axle length. Or, if you measure it as installed on the car, then the length would change depending on rear suspension position (i.e. on ground with engine in car, on ground with engine removed, in air, etc.), rubber bushing quality, etc. Take care, Shad Laws LN Engineering - Aircooled Precision Performance http://www.lnengineering.com ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
