No idea, but are you sure its from oil and not unburnt fuel? When I had my carbs set way too rich I would regularly get clouds of blue smoke momentarily at startup- usually just as some unexpecting mum and child walked past- really embarassing- I was always sure that they were on the way to the healthfood shop down the road and would report me to the polution police ;-) I think at startup you are particularly prone to missfires (well i certainly am) and that may be the answer. If the rings could turn on their own to a point where they unnaturally didn't seal, they wouldn't would they? as the forces involved in overcoming their good fit would prevent them. Could be wrong though- these things have minds of their own or so it would seem.
