Joe, I don't think the cylinder temp sensor is your problem, especially if the car runs well (when it runs..). But in any case, you can check that temp sensor with it still in the car. When cold, the head temp sensor will have a resistance in the neighborhood of 3000 to 5000 ohm. When warmed up, the resistance drops to around 1000 ohm or so. If the numbers are in the ballpark, the sensor is good. To test, just unplug the sensor from the wiring harness and use your ohmmeter to test resistance across the temp sensor lead and ground. When it's hot, what is your procedure to start the car? Normally, you just put it in nuetral, turn the key and start, without pumping the throttle. But if you're running a little rich, you might try holding the throttle open (no pumping).
