Hello- Okay, I'll take the bait. A dumb question for ya: How in the heck can the axle length change depending on whether or not it is installed? Last I checked they were pretty hard steel and tended to keep their size... :-) My first thought was that maybe you were somehow forging a crude measurement by measuring between the CV flanges on the car, but that wouldn't work as that distance would change depending on suspension position, rubber mount condition, etc. My next thought was that you were measuring the length of an assembled driveshaft (i.e. axle plus CVs plus boots), but the longest part of that assembly is the axles themselves. Just curious :-).
