It is likely that the hot temps you feel are perfectly normal. An engine runs hot. It's just not possible to make a judgment like this over the internet with only subjective data. Yes, there could be something wrong, but the fact that you can't hold your hand on the distributor does not necessarily mean anything. Do the timing and valves.
