What about the issue with my motor getting so hot that the distributor was too hot to touch? I know that I mentioned it several posts earlier, but could either the pressure sensor or the head temp sensor cause a running condition that would promote this kind of heat? Is it possible that the timing is set so far ahead that it is causing the problem? I haven't set the timing yet, because the motor wouldn't run long enough. That is what led me to the short in the lead to the sensor. Again, many thanks. I'm going to get this car driveable... Then I think Mr. Adney will be seeing at least one distributor from the DAC. :) Bryan Castles -----Original Message----- From: Jim Adney [mailto:jadney@vwtype3.org] Sent: Wednesday, April 16, 2003 11:09 PM To: type3@vwtype3.org Subject: Re: [T3] Fuel injection troubles have defeated me so far :UPDATE On 16 Apr 2003 at 21:22, Keith Park wrote: > Removing these HOT gives the greatest chance of getting > it out, as the aluminum expands more than the steel sensor. Yes, the differential expansion is in your favor, but the alum softens quickly and galls sooner. I've never had good luck with stuck bolts in alum, and warm alum seems worse than cold. I always use MoS2 on any threads in alum. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
