I rather suspect you did find the culprit. Yes, if its a universal head (most cars today no longer have thier original heads) you can certainly mount it on the top boss, you may have to cut or punch an access hole in the engine tin though. Removing these HOT gives the greatest chance of getting it out, as the aluminum expands more than the steel sensor. Keith > It's a '69, so it IS the one below the exhaust port.
