Regarding the rear brake drums: Sounds like your drums are rusted to the hub. Happens all the time to me, too. Do not pound on the drum to release it. After you are sure the parking brake is released and the drum rotates freely, use a propane torch to heat up the drum (and cause it to expand) until you hear a sudden *tink*, which indicates that the rust bond has broken and the drum is loose. Heat the drum circularly right around the parting line between the drum and the hub. Keep the torch moving.
