Re: [T3] I Just Want to CRY!

I have had two beetles stolen (which is a different situation, but similar dealings with
the insurance company). I have State Farm insurnace and I was able to get decent money
for my cars. I am not sure how much help this will be... but it can't hurt.

The initial offer from the insurance company was VERY low (~$1,000/$1500). However, I
was able to up the insurance companies to $4600 for the sedan and $6800 for the
convertible. I had multiple pictures of my car, documentation from mechanics and
repairs, I also printed out EVERY classified ad I could find in my area at the time
(Altanta GA, Chicago IL) for comparitive pricing. It took about 60 days in total turn
around, and was a real PITA, but as you can see, I was able to get a significantly larger
amount of money from the insurance companies.

You might be able to do to the same to prevent them from considering the car totaled or
anything of that nature. I always worry with my Squareback that any small accident would
deem the car a wreck because insurance estimated repairs would be higher than the value
of the car.
