<x-charset iso-8859-1>i think i found the problem...well my squareback had beeen idling kind of high, and as i didn't have a carb balancer-i didn't get around to adjusting the idle. anyway it wasn't idling high due to carb mis-adjustment, it was idling high due ot the fact that something was jammed on the accelerator pedal. when i removed this-the idle went down to normal, and the grinding appears to have gone away. then againit was an intermittent problem-but my fix makes sense to me, if i am idling too high i will grind into first-but no other gear will be affected(this was my symptom) thanks for all the input. -kevin somerville, ma '65 kombi '67 sqbk ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/ </x-charset>
