Hello, I have a 71, automatic, fuel injected, squareback. (The Baroness). She's making me crazy. It's very hard to start her in the morning. I have to pump the gas pedal while I turn the key. Then I have to rev the engine in neutral for a long time, or she stalls. Then, when I put her into reverse, she has almost no power, and also has no power when shifted into drive. Today, I couldn't back out of my parking spot on a very slight slope until I put her in neutral, reved the engine, then poped her into reverse while reving). When I finally get her going, if I stop at a light, she hesitates very badly when I accelerate. After she warms up, she's a lot better but still under powered, especially on hills This has been going on a long time, but it's gotten a lot worse in the past 6 months. I can tell she's starving for fuel. I use the highest octane gas. I've brought her to the shop so many times, they tune her, change the oil, adjust valves and gaps and a lot of other stuff that I don't know what it is, and still they can't seem to get iher fixed. She runs better for a week or 2, and then slides right back into her recalcitrant behavior. She also runs very hot, and smells hot, even after short drives. I'm thinking of shooting her (or me) to put one of us out of our misery!
