have a little "black box" device that is fitted to their 6v cars (both KG's
by chance) that allows them to run a 12v CD/cassette unit.

Someone on the Bus list talked about making a solid state one a while back,
I don't think anything came of it.

They are not too useful for the most modern radios that need a constant
hot connection to remember your presets as it would have to running all
the time, which drains the battery.  Plus no amps = no dope bass.
