They need to be rebuilt and this is not the kind of job to try as your first attempt at brake work. I can rebuild yours or you can buy new Brazilian ones for a little more money. The new ones lack some of the features of the originals. I recommend that you NOT exchange yours for rebuilds, as you won't be sure of what you will be getting in exchange. I charge $45 plus shipping to do a caliper. I won't do an exchange unless I have your calipers in hand first and can verify that they are OE calipers which are "unmolested." It takes several weeks for me to get these turned around and back to you. Standard brake fluid absorbs moisture out of the air and should be bled and replaced every couple of years. This is just ONE of many reasons that I recommend DoT-5 silicone brake fluid. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
