<x-charset iso-8859-1>Hello- > Heat wrap is a cost effective alternative to ceramic coating if you're on a > budget. Very true regarding heat shielding, BUT it promotes rust... Ceramic coating is also great because it is a rust-proof coating that stands up to temperature. Putting fiberglass wrap on your exhaust system is like putting foam in your car body - if (er, when) moisture gets in, it keeps it in. Rather than retard rust, it makes it worse. I know that many exhaust systems for VWs are _dirt_ cheap, and for these you probably don't care much if they rust as a new one is <$50. But, if you've spent some cash on your exhaust system (like me... I spent a scary amount... doh!), I'd just do the ceramic coating once and never worry again.
