Getting the pulley past the key (forget the correct name for it) was the pain. This key is the shim located on the shaft of the generator. This is also the inside pulley that i was having problems with, the one closest to the generator. Since I broke the old one, I ordered a new one from Rocky Mountain. This one I think is bigger because it would not fit through the hole in which the generator shaft slides into where the V-belt is located, I had to put the pulley on while the generator was in the tin area (that was not fun) I now don't have enough threads on the shaft to tight the nut down to hold the pulleys together. I do have the inside pulley as far in as it can go. any ideas? anyone? thanks G --- "Martinez, Leon" <martinezl@ftscpac.navy.mil> wrote: > Grant, > > When I installed it, I had no problems with the > pulleys. > I just got my 13mm long socket in there to remove > the > bracket, removed all wires from it , lifted the back > of the generator up > to a good angle to remove the belt easily, the other > generator/pully > adjusted to match the width of the pully of my old > generator, using a > 21 mm (OR 13/16) socket and a cresent wrench (kind > of tough here > to crack the tight nut, then remove shims and put > back together. if > you broke the pully while removing it completely, > that may happen > if they are stubborn. > > How was your's broken ? > > LEON MARTINEZ > > SAN DIEGO AND TIJUANA > > ------------------------------------------------ > To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> > For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
