Re: [T3] Removed original vinyl, and found surface rust, is this critical to remove??

<x-flowed>I removed the sound deadening board in my fasty, which looked really good and was definitely replaced by a previous owner at some point, and found some pretty hefty surface rust setting in right under the glue. Then there were also places where you could see the por15 that had been applied looked fresh and clean. I guess you never can tell if you can't see under there.

Hello list,

Im restoring my original '63 Notch, and so far through
sanding etc, have found no rust. But I'm under the
impression that the seals around the window were so
bad that perhaps they leaked water, and or, also over
the years spilled drinks in car etc, has caused some
surface rust to appear.

My question simply is this, I prefer not to remove the
factory deadening material on the floor boards, and
just carpet right over it, but my delima and question
is, if I do this will this 'colored surface rust' get
worse and spread, and I guess also I can't tell how
bad it is unless I remove this material as apose to
just peaking around the corners.

Thanx again for all replys..
