hey all, i just wanted to gather some input. i recently acquired an extra type IV engine that was originally in a 914, by the engine number i have found it to be a 1.7, early 70's (earlier than '74)...nothing special but it has potential (i hope). i was originally thinking that i would rebuild it and use it in my bus when the time comes....but there are a few things about this engine that i don't particularly like the idea of it being in my bus. first of all the dipstick is in the worst placement ever for a bus, as it is in the top... so, i was wondering about the potential to drop it into a type III. the only thing that i can see is the way that the cooling tin pulls in cool air from the bellows, if this was adapted to fit to the type IV it would work just peachy right? are there any other concerns i have missed? -matthias portland, oregon '66 type I '74 type II '67 type III fastback (* Worry is the darkroom in which negatives can develop. *) ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
