Re: [T3] wheel alignment

<x-flowed>Jim,
It sounds as though one cannot just take a type 3 into an alignment place and expect it to be done right. If that's the case can it be that the long standing shimmy in the front end can be from regular alignment shops not aligning it accurately? When my dad owned my fasty the front end had a shimmy on left turns for awhile and one of the VW shops it was taken to put on a stabilizer bar to the steering column ($100) and that didn't correct it. Is it that without the manual specs it won't be done right?
That might explain alot.

Ok, I am fairly sure my alignment is rotten, but I have never done and

tell me how to do it?

In general, you probably don't have the equipment to do it, so you will have to
take it to an alignment shop. The Bentley manual has very good instructions
as to exactly what needs to be done, AND what NOT to do. It would be best
to be very familiar with these instructions before taking it in to an alighment
shop, because few of them will know the right way to align a type 3.

Finding a good alignment shop which is willing to listen to you and work with
you to do this right will be a challenge.
