You will have to pull up the carpet and it is even easier to see if you remove the angled plate under the pedals. Leaks out of the rear facing mouth of the MC are the most common failure mode, but internal leaks that just allow the pedal to slowly sink are possible. It is also common for the long center brake line to rust thru just under the gas pedal hinge. Look at this area closely while pressing the pedal with your left hand. If it is an original ATe MC I can rebuild it.
