I know exactly the part you mean, I have a 69 Notch with the same system. There was an NOS one on Ebay a year or so ago and I was foolish enough not to buy it. I'd start visiting parts yards and be persistent. This system was optional for about half of 1969 and since all Canadian type 3's had gas heaters about half of the 1969 cars here in Canada will have come with the BA4. A lot of places will have boxes of exhaust and/or engine parts and there's a chance a pair of these will be kicking around somewhere. Unfortunately the owners of the yards are unlikely to have noticed the difference between them and standard T3 heat elbows so you'll probably have to find them yourself. I suppose it is possible to fabricate something with plumbing parts and omitting the valve. As far as I can tell the function of the valve was to ensure that the air flow didn't go backwards toward the engine but I can't imagine how this would be possible anyway. There are people on the list who have added a BA4 to their car and fabricated most everything to make it work, they may have helpful suggestions. As far as the operation of the heater goes, it is totally great. Not only does it get real hot real fast it is the only gas heater system that will actually direct heat at you windshield!
