I have 3 tachs in 3 cars, and two of the cars I can check the calibration of the tachs with the Haltech EFI in them, it has a tach display amongst many parameters displayed on the fuel mapping pages. I have found that the VDO is more accurate than my Autometer Monster tach. I have not noticed a temperature variable but I haven't really looked for one either. The VDO has always read within a needle's width of the rpm that is displayed on my laptop where the Autometer is off like 150 rpm at 1,000 but reduces the inaccuracy to a needle's width at 2,000. I "think" I still have the receipt from buying my VDO like 22 years ago. Its been in two cars now. Plus I am going to go to a hobby shop and find some aerosol spray paint to fix the lighting differences between the VDO and stock instruments in my notch. I believe the bulbs don't get hot enough to discolour the translucent green paint that will be sprayed on them. At least its an idea that I think has merit.
