I have a small cheapo tach (it just says 'ORIENTAL' at the bottom of the gauge) mounted in the hole for the air ducts (under the ashtray) and never notice and variation, but since this is a smaller tach it would be harder to see any difference in the readings. I get 3000rpm at 65MPH in 4th gear, with stock tyres.
