> First suggestion is that SOMEBODY needs a torque wrench. ;-) Jim, I know, I know! I have a nice torque wrench, use it in all the appropriate places. Some of the Helicoils went to just clean up and tighten a sloppy thread or when I replced a broken exhaust stud. Don't want you to think I'm some ham-fisted garage monkey, this one seemed doomed from the beginning. It started to loosen up and pull out right at about 14 ft/lbs. Must have been the ham-fisted garage monkey that owned her before me, ;b. AAR, the stud is the one that isn't accessible from the breather hole, although I get positive air pressure, a light shined in the case doesn't show out the stud hole at all. The cam gear is directly underneath the hole so any shavings would fall right on it. I'm going to have to flip the case on end and use lots of grease to keep any junk from falling inside. Time and patience are going to be the best tools on this one. Oh well, thanks for the advise. David "at least I *thought* I knew my own strength" Walters '73 1600 L Notchback S.
