Re: [T3] Rear Lighting

Both this and Brasso are good suggestions, but not really a good choice
for what I need to do. I'd like something I could dip spade connectors
(female) in and not have a clumped on mess. Some sort of mild acid
maybe...then a water bath and then a dielectric grease. Maybe simple
vinegar would be a strong enough acidic agent?

What you need is Bright dip. Find a music store that does good instrument repair. If they do lots of work on brass instruments (ie. trumpets, trombones, euphoniums, sax bodies) they may have a dip known in the industry as "Bright Dip" it is a mixture of various acids. (I can't remember exactly, but I believe hydrochloric, sulfuric, and chromic?) When a bare piece of brass is dipped into the mixture, it begins to eat the copper out of it instantly. This is the only way to remove "red rot" which is where sections of the brass break down leaving little red dots. Music stores have started moving away from this mixture as it is extremely hazardous to your health, and the OSHA regulations are strict. It cleans pretty much any and all corrosion on brass items. It is a very BAD idea to put steel, aluminum, or various other items in it. If you are looking for something to dip connectors in to clean them, this is what you are looking for. The problem is that I don't know if a music store would give you any, as it is expensive, hard to ship, and there would be some sort of liability in giving it out. Other than that, have you tried tarnex?
