I wonder if that's what you had, but that they were just distorted from use. They get crushed pretty badly in use. > Bottom line don't rely on color only, :-). You're absolutely right. There was a little voice in the back of my head telling me not to make blanket statements like this when I KNEW that exceptions had been reported out there. I should have listened to that voice Thanks for keeping me honest. ;-). > With late engine and late cooler you need the thin seals and you are not > supposed to use any spacer under the cooler (on the studs). I have found the late seals to come with in various hardnesses. I just suspect that the really hard ones are out of spec, but I have started recommending that people use a single standard wavy washer on each stud/bolt between the cooler and the case with these. My supply of these seals is depleted, so I need to buy some more. I should see if the ones I get from a better place are softer, so they can take the extra squish. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
