The originals were black. I wonder if that's what you had, but that they were 
just distorted from use. They get crushed pretty badly in use.

You're absolutely right. I just wish the seal suppliers had kept to the 
standard colors. It would have made our lives easier.

You're right again. There was a little voice in the back of my head telling me 
not to make blanket statements like this when I KNEW that exceptions had 
been reported out there. I should have listened to that voice  Thanks for 
keeping me honest.  ;-).

I have found the late seals to come with in various hardnesses. I just suspect 
that the really hard ones are out of spec, but I have started recommending 
that people use a single standard wavy washer on each stud/bolt between 
the cooler and the case with these. My supply of these seals is depleted, so 
I need to buy some more. I should see if the ones I get from a better place 
are softer, so they can take the extra squish.
