Hi all, Took The B. over to Scheib to get an estimate today. Guy says he can do their best paint job, 6 year warranty, and fix most of the dents for $541. What would you do? __________________________________________________________ I'm another that hasn't had direct experience with Scheib, but have had 2 cars painted in the past by Autopaint USA (same old stuff, Maaco, Scheib, etc..) They both looked pretty good after the spray if you could ignore the ton of overspray everywhere, I remember 2 or 3 years later they still looked pretty good. Lots of minor paint flaws and I think one of them had to be taken back a couple of times to be redone. Another friend of mine had his car done by Maaco and had them respray it (under their warrantee) about 5 times. The paint's shine was great, problem was it wouldn't stay on the car (would flake off under water hose pressure)! I found they warrantee it knowing it won't cost them that much to redo the shoddy job they did the first time and sooner or later you will give up hoping it comes out perfect. I don't think this is a bad option for someone on a budget that wants a new paint job and can't do it themselves if, like others have suggested, you do the prep-work yourself and don't expect perfection. Those 2 cars were both painted a completely different new color BTW, but I can see how they wouldn't bother getting you a color match. Bottom line, you get what you pay for, but sometimes you do what you gotta do, I know how it feels not having thousands to spend on a "good" paint job that's why I'm doing mine myself.
