Ah-HA! That makes the second one of these I've diagnosed, one from long 
distance. The first one puzzled me when I was unable to make a good wheel 
bearing adjustment.

There has only been one version of that one. No chance for a mistake there.

You should really have 3 parts: seal, inner race with rollers attached, and 
outer race pressed into the drum. I have the bearings, I don't know if the late 
seals will work there.

I've never seen a seal that was combined with a bearing, unless someone 
found a standard one-piece sealed bearing cartridge that would press into the 
drum. I'm pretty sure that is NOT original. Was this one assembly with inner 
and outer races AND seals on both sides? If so, it's probably just a ball 
bearing, too, and not a tapered roller bearing; definitely a lighter bearing than 
the one that belongs in there.

I think early type 3 seals were a felt seal captured in a metal surround. At 
least that's what was in the 64 a friend of mine once had.
