Probably not the problem here, but just in case ..... Uneven pad wear is sometimes due to the piston retaining plate (flat triangle with a hole that the pin goes through) trailing rather than leading. It should be at the bottom of the pad opening on a Type 3. If the calipers have two bleed screws, they may have been swapped side for side. If only one, the pistons may have been turned during rebuilding. Incidentally, on a Type 4 the calipers are in front of the axle and the retainer plate is on the upper end of the pad slot. Dave.
