Re: [T3] I Won Second!!

Cool Bananas! Now I wish I had come down - I want mags for my type 3!!! I
actually spent the whole day painting my lounge/dining/kitchen areas with
the TV on Bathurst(They showed historic footage, and there was a beetle
racing!) . A friend of mine and his Girlfriend want to board at my house,
and they want to move in soon... I have to get it all painted ASAP! Bugger.
I really want to be in too. My GF gomes back from overseas in December, and
I really want to be in before then.

If there was ojnly 2 other type3's, then I could have got 3rd in mine :-). I
once got a second place, there were two enties, so it was by default :-)

I think I know the wheels you mean, they are quite neat looking. I think
Dave (can't remember his last name, he's in his late 20's I think) used to
have them on his square.

I suppose you're going to tell me there was a set of type £ fenders andf a
type 4 engine for sale cheap too!

Allan :-)

Subject: [T3] I Won Second!!

Hi list,

I am really pleased about the results at a local VW show this weekend. I won
second in the Type 3 class out of 3 cars (2 Fastbacks, 1 Notchback). The one
that won first prize was immaculate, it had only had 2 owners, and the
present owner had bought it in 73 (it was a 71' Fastback). It was really
good to compare such an original car with my own one to see what incorrect
parts etc. were on mine. I also got a look at his distributor (the correct
one) so I know what to look for, for my one now.

I also bought some mag wheels to go on my Type 3, they were made specially
for the Type 3 with the correct offset etc. The first prize winner car had
them on, and when I made a comment about them someone else said they had a
set for sale. They are a 4.5" rim with about 12 or so square cut outs around
the edge of the rim- I have forgotten what they were called now.

Apart from that there was about 100 Beetles and 50 or so Type 2's and a
handful of Ghia's and some other VW based cars. Also there was quite a big
showing of watercooled cars, about 10 or so in total.
