Deal! :-)

Right.

We're on the same page.

Maybe I was unclear with the intention in which I was writing... let me try
again :-). My only point was that I didn't have the lines on backwards.
The tank outlet had a sock, and the return didn't, and there was no way a
sock could have ever gone on the return side (i.e. covering one more base
that may have led to the backwards line thing.

That's true. I know the line itself is higher than the bottom of the tank
because I stuck something down in there to "move" the sock around, and could
feel (and slightly see) where the hard metal line was beneath it.

> Have you really removed and cleaned the sock?

No. It isn't cruddy enough to make me do it yet. When it "runs out of
gas," the fuel level is even with the hard metal line, so the sock isn't at
fault.

If I end up pulling the whole damned thing apart, though, I may just do it
anyway.

And, if I end up needing to open up the tank to fix something and/or get a
new one, I *might* just pull apart the tank, fix it, keep the bottom half,
and graft on a bigger top half to make it ~15-18gal or so. Hey, it's a
touring car... just a random thought...

Take care,
