MikeS=> worried about the body work, it scares me BIG TIME. Welcome to the list. You're right, you've got a lot of work ahead. I hope you're good with welding sheet metal. Thanks and welding is fairly easy for me thank God :-) => can I buy new body steel or should I => call a bone yard out west for parts? > Patch panels turn up on the market sometimes, for high prices. Calling >yards isn't a bad idea, but be prepared for a whole lot of never-heard-of->it and don't-have-it. Once a car is as far gone as yours sounds, they >don't often come back. Lemme guess -- Rust Belt, right? Rust belt for sure.... living in Hampden, Mass.... shipping is the killer.... can you send full heater channels by truck from AZ? :-) As for far gone, well its mostly the heater channels and a bit of the floor pans was checking it out before in the garage before I posted to the net ;-) ... I have all the other sheet metal I will need as in fenders, hood <was dented in with a bat I think>, new rockers. I also acquired all my engine and brake parts from a local air cooled guy who bought out most of the VW dealers in the northeast. > I hesitate to cast aspersions on your new love, but considering the >relative rarity of good clean body parts and the hassle of shipping them, >you might be better off to start looking in the dry states for a more or >less complete car, or at least a complete pan. The amount of money/time >you'll spend fixing yours could easily be greater than the cost of a nice >AZ Square delivered to your door. Isn't this part of the fun in restoring a VW? :-) Mike Sweeney '66 Square ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
