Jim, turned out it was BOTH the bulb and the sender that were bad. Check for continuity where it looks like it should have it. I was not aware of the wire that Russ mentioned. Turns out that Russ was right, no continuity thru the brown wire with the grey stripe from the dimmer switch. Fixed the break in the wire and now all is a ok. Thanks for all the help, between this list and a Bentley manual I was able to fix most of my problems without too much trouble, although wiring can sometimes be tedious and troublesome if you stick with it, it eventually produces a solution.
