Wax IS a petroleum product, just a collection of longer molecules. I don't know how to pick one that lasts a long time. If it is too soft in the beginning that means that it has a lot of short chain molecules in it and these will migrate away in time leaving behind something hard. OTOH, this migration is responsible for the protection it gives since it is constantly wicking into those places where it is needed. I think the really poor ones have a lot of light solvents in them, so they will evaporate and turn hard in a few days or months. In the end, the best solution is probably pick one that doesn't seem to harden up too fast and plan on redoing it periodically, like you suggested. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
