I was having with the radio dying when I had it hooked to the switched 12V under the dash. I tend to forget to turn things off so I couldn't have both connections on the constant 12V. I really am heading towards an anti-theft thing here. What I did was get a relay that fits into the empty spot on the fuse box with internals like this: I hooked the constant 12V to the coil and the the center of the contacts. I took the ground from the ignition switch that controls the door buzzer and put that on the other side of the coil. I hooded the radio to the contact that gets 12V when the key is in and a flashing LED that mimics a car alarm on the other side. Now when the key is in the radio is on and the LED is off and visa-versa when the key is out. The P.O. installed a kill switch that cuts off all voltage to the front end but I never use it because It would clear my radio presets and stop my clock.
