The painting process includes e-coat (electostatic application of paint in a bath - full emersion), surfacing primer, and then top coat (almost always a base/clear system). One could probably find a source for e-coating body parts and this would be a good corrosion protection layer. You would have to have the body completely stripped to bare metal first.
