As you know, I'm a big advocate of silicone brake fluid, but there is really no advantage to changing over when you change hoses. In fact, because the silicone is expensive, there is some advantage to replacing the hoses first and then waiting to be sure that everything is tight and working right so you don't waste the silicone on a leaky system. BTW, the silicone is pretty picky about leaks, so all your connections have to be really good if you want to use it. If you change over to silicone, you do NOT want to drain out the old fluid and just add the new. You will need to use excess silicone fluid to flush out the old and this process works very well in all the lines. The place where this process works worst is in disk calipers, but you don't have that problem in your 65, I assume. I have a FAQ on the silicone fluid. I'm emailing you a copy directly. It is also available for the asking to anyone else who wants it. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
