I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that automatics are supposed to idle at 950. I don't know whether carbs and FI are supposed to idle at the same speed. In my previous message I meant 700 in "drive", taking into account the rpm drop when putting the car into gear. The 700 was just a suggestion, maybe a bit higher would be better. I have never seen a spec of what the idle speed should be when the car is in gear.
