If you adjust your ride height by slipping the torsion bars you allow the swing arms to ride at a different angle. In the stock configuration they are approx horizontal, but as you use them to lower the car they angle up and make the suspension stiffer because of the trig involved. They are also not equal length, so changing their position changes the caster angle (it's not a parallelogram.)
