This system produces a lot more heat than the Type 1/2. => Why would the car need to try to override => your request for warm air? Not override, just regulate -- you only want it to get nice and warm. I'm serious about melting shoes with unregulated heat, it's happened. Unfortunately a lot of people have replaced their stock exhaust systems with aftermarket stuff that eliminates the rear exchangers, leaving them closer to the Type 1 range heat-wise. In those cases the regulators are probably not doing much at all.
