5 or 6 at 55 and near 10 at 80 *does* indicate linear error, especially if
the errors are 6 and 9.
A rusty/dry cable/sheath could cause your needle to jump like that (takes a
few turns of the LF tire to un'stick' it). If the needle vibrates at other
speeds, you might have a kink in the cable. To see if you have either
problem, remove the bearing cover on the left front tire and see how easy it
is to turn the cable by hand. It shouldn't 'thump' as is goes round or be
impossible to turn.
Then again, your speedo might just be as whacked out as me.
