I started working on my own type 3 after I realized that the VW dealer here was taking me for a ride and I could generally do a much better job, once I got the right idea. > Do people need to have been into bodywork/engineering for years before taking > on things like this or is study, practice and TLC enough? There's clearly a kind of mentality that does better at this stuff, but that generally means anyone who is really interested and willing to ask questions and learn. If there is a secret, it is to not start off with projects which are too difficult. Start simple: change your oil, adjust your valves, replace a headlight, fix a reluctant wind down window, clear out your airbox water drains. Let things move on from there as the need arises and study the manual as you go along. Buy tools as you need them, or as they go on sale. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
